Interested in becoming a ski or snowboard instructor? We offer a clear pathway to help you build skills, gain experience, and prepare for certification.
1. Apprenticeship (Shadowing Program)
A perfect starting point for anyone who wants to experience teaching before committing to a certification course.
Uncertified instructors can:
Shadow real lessons
Assist our certified staff
Build practical teaching experience
See what the role is like in a low-pressure environment
This is ideal if you're unsure about taking your Level 1 course or simply want more time on snow in a teaching setting.
2. Level 1 Certification Pathway
We support both CASI (snowboard) and CSIA (ski) Level 1 certification.
A. Official Level 1 Courses (CASI/CSIA)
Register directly through CASI or CSIA for upcoming certification courses hosted around the region.
B. Pre-Course Training With Our Evaluators
We have CASI and CSIA Level 1 Evaluators on staff.
Book a pre-course session to:
Review Level 1 exam standards
Get personalized coaching
Practice required riding/skiing maneuvers
Learn teaching fundamentals
Build confidence before exam day
These prep sessions are booked like a private lesson — but fully tailored to Level 1 success.
Want Hart to Host a Level 1 Course?
If we have 4 or more interested candidates, we can request CASI or CSIA to run a Level 1 course specifically at Hart Snow School.
This is why joining the Instructor Training Interest List is so important.
